Manera
Wetsuit/accessory brand run as Julien Salles’ “own personal baby” within F-One (Ep 47). A running gag on the show is the hosts’ delayed “Manera Socks R&D” collaboration (Ep 50).
- Ep 47 (Julien Salles): deliberately kept as a “small challenger” brand rather than scaled toward a Rip Curl/Boardriders-style operation — product-first, not marketing-first. ~70% of turnover is neoprene (about half of that in surfing); Manera is roughly 10% of F-One’s total business, with a strong US/California team. The “Manera Socks” bit is a real product in development at the time of recording (10,000-pair run, prototypes imminent), because Julien needed socks and didn’t want to buy them. Manera was also developing two deflator/downwind bags: a hydration-style bag doubling as general wing security kit, and a dedicated deflator bag with drain holes and a pump/safety-gear pocket — both framed as sport-development spend rather than a profit line.
