Freddie

Co-host of The Generic Foiling Podcast alongside Liam. Foiler with a watersports-industry background; competes/travels for events. His winging backstory is covered in Ep 3.

What the catalogue reveals:

  • Based in Devon around Exmouth; the less tech-obsessed host, often “bringing it back in line for the masses” when Liam and a guest go deep on foil design (e.g. Ep 62).
  • Travels widely for the sport: a Mauritius kitesurf event (Ep 147) and a New Zealand “Kiwi experience” across disciplines (Ep 137).
  • Big on Prone Foiling and, later, Foil Assist and Parawing/Downwind paddle-ups. Both US Hood River trips (2024, 2025). A founding “Wang Lord” with Liam, Rich Boughton and Chris Burke.

From the pilot episodes and recent catch-ups:

  • Works the gear-distribution / sales-rep side of the industry — distributes Ozone kites in the UK and has repped Axis foils. His motivation swings hard with how the last session went (Ep 1). ~82kg (Ep 3).
  • Kite pedigree: kitesurfed 15+ years and kite-buggied/landboarded before that — a Flexifoil team rider (in their ~2008/09 catalogue), the brand that also sponsored 5× champion Aaron Hadlow (Ep 1, Ep 144).
  • Winging start: learned around late 2020 (first glide at an Andy Gratwick demo/instructor course); ~82kg on an SIC 115L board, big Axis beginner wing and an Ozone Wasp 5m; admits he “dropped down too quickly” and under-practised because he’d choose kiting when it got windy. Now on the Axis ART 999 (Ep 3).
  • Learned to foil behind boats in 2022 (dad’s 19ft ski boat, a friend’s 28ft Axopar “HMS Basher”) — running the F-One Phantom 1480/1080 (Ep 3).
  • 2026: nearly all his turnover is now parawing (Ozone Pocket Rocket V2 outselling V1) while wing sales have “dropped off a cliff”; went to Mauritius as media for a flat-water kite event and — to his embarrassment — never rode a wave there (Ep 147).
